Hotel Ariadne Skyros - Skyros Information

Skyros The Island of the winds

Visiting Skyros is a unique journey to keep and treasure in our hearts.

Situated in the centre of the Aegean Sea, Skyros is the largest of the Sporades islands. Unspoiled from the effects of mass tourism, Skyros has preserved its authentic character, tradition and cultural heritage, offering a unique journey to the Greek way of life.

The island of Skyros reveals an environment of outstanding natural beauty. The traveler finds smooth hills with bright green pine forests, fragrant soil and emerald waters. Calm, sandy beaches embrace the visitor. To the south, by the sea, the Mountain is steep and rocky. Wild olive trees and impressive maples grow on the windy slopes, imposing and resilient.

From ancient times, the inhabitants of Skyros have been farming, raising stock and fishing. Local products of excellent quality can be tasted at the numerous taverns of the island. Exceptional cuisine on Skyros, offers traditional recipes, fresh fish and seafood, exceptional meats and the tastiest vegetables. Local producers are famous for the superb variety of cheeses, Greek yoghurt and honey, available to be bought at best prices!
